SVN server address has changed...

The address of the SVN server has changed from pluto.palestar.com to jupiter.palestar.com. So if you've been having problems getting latest using subversion, you now know why.
Another Beta Update

Another update has been posted to the beta server, fixing most of the ships that were missing from the previous version. Please can you help us in testing the ship layouts for the combat classes from Scout to Cruiser.
The new Transport, Supply, Engineer, Station and Dreadnought layouts are NOT in the game, so please do not report issues with them.

Use the [1.484] Ship Layouts Issues thread to report any configuration problems.

Use the [1.484] Bug Reporting to report any other issues.
Beta Updated

The latest development snapshot has been updated to the live beta. As you may notice, several ships are missing from each factions ship selection screen. This is a predicted side effect of the major development issue that we are currently working through, and which has perpetuated a number of bugs through several versions of the DarkSpace game.

1.484 Code test

As some of you may have noticed, we have recently updated the beta servers with some preview code for the next installment of 1.484.

This is not yet intended for serious testing as there are currently many major bugs and issues that prevent it from being anywhere near a playable state. Instead it is intended to allow curious members of the community an opportunity to see what we are doing with the game and how we are progressing, as well as providing a live environment for the development team to test various feature implementations and ideas.

We will notify as soon as Phase One of official 1.484 testing begins.
New Beta Lobby Client...

A new installer for GameCQ Beta is now available in the downloads section of the beta website. If you would like to play the BETA version of DarkSpace, begin by downloading and installing this client.

Beta Profile Updates

If you wish to transfer your prestige and badges from Release to Beta, thus enabling you to use any ship you would have available in the normal DarkSpace, use the Beta Profile Transfer link. If you are logged in on the beta website, it should be available on the menu on the left. Admins will no longer transfer your prestige; it is now your responsibility.

NOTE: If using GCQL, you may have to right-click on the link and Open in a New Window, and possibly you may need to login again.
Problems running beta?

If you are experiencing problems in getting the Beta to run or update after installation, then take a look at this thread where you can download the core update files that will enable you to log in the GCQL lobby and update normally.
1.484 Updates

Beta has been updated today with some of the latest code and changes. The development team are currently working on rebalancing the bombing code, and preliminary structures are in place for the new upgrade paths.

Latest 1.484 Alpha changes:
  • Resourcer syncronization refactored to fix some issues with working with the game assets.
  • Gadget upgrade code refactored. You now only need to orbit a friendly planet, target your own devices to get upgrade buttons displayed above the target window.
Your help with testing these features will be greatly appreciated.

Unit Optimizations....

I just made some major ground unit optimizations. All testers please verify that the ground units are still working correctly, path-finding to enemy units, attacking structures when given the raze order, attacking units otherwise. Post any bugs to the beta forum.
