Would not go with a DREAD2 hull on that. Command dreads need to be a DREAD1 hull (6 slots) for resources and infantry.

(Dread2 are "super dreads" and have only 4 cargo slots but more hull and more "points" for stuff)
(Dread1 are normal dreads, and have only 6 cargo slots but less hull, by only a few %points)

Electronic Warfare is very limited at best, what things you could do. So basically there is going to some things that remind players of EVE. Eve never made this idea, and it doesn't belong to anybody but the person who invented it. These ideas have been implanted in so many Space Theme MMO's, that is basically going to be something you suspect. Designing something new and never before, that is something that is hard to do.

So before you start shouting I am taking my ideas from EVE, remember science fiction things have been here long before Eve was invented.

science fiction throws new things at you, who thought of warp drives?
who thought of torpedos as space weapons?
we might very well not have thought of space torpedos is someone didn't think about them
who thought of flux? the power to split molecules? if everyone was like that science fiction wouldnt exist

Funnily enough, there's a huge amount of sci-fi out there that posesses a distinct lack of completely made-up stuff and just uses known science and technology or extrapolations thereof. I recall reading an (old) novel that used little more than basic rocket engines, guns adapted from naval artillery, and buckets of gravel, complete with comments on how hard it was to hit anything in space with an 18-inch shell.

Also: The space-combat definition of a torpedo is a missile that can produce about as much thrust as a warship, usally because it's got a really big warhead. The concept's been around for, like, 90 years or somesuch.

As for that dreadnaught layout: Ye gods. I think that's approaching the hard limit on the number of devices a ship can have, which I think is all one needs to say, really.

i meant new things as in new concepts that are scientifically plausible

if i recall from numbering it out for him it was 44 gadgets (limit is 64) and 228 points (layout balance number, ask jim)

To give this a bit of scale, that means that this ship has 35% more stuff than a Siphon (which is the highest-scoring ship in my devnotes) and will have 30% more stuff than the superdreads that Jim is designing (I think).

From what I have heard its the EAD thats overpriced on gadgets.

@Alan

Ship devices have point limits and ship hulls have hard point limits for how many gadgets it can have. So for example, a normal cannon is 1 point and takes up 1 gadget slot. A Heavy Cannon is 2 points and takes up 1 slot, and so on and so forth. Core weps cost 6 points from what I can gather. Also devices have wight limits too. The more devices it has the slower its going to turn and accelerate/decelerate. Armor is pretty heavy and is why Kluth and UGTO ships turn slower then ICC ones, also is why ICC ships can slow down and speed up faster too.

You would be able to redesign it and fix it up to the way you like it. I was just trying to give an example layout.
